Like Brian and I some of you may fondly remember "The Dukes of Hazard". Since Ross doesn't have much say so in his costume these days we decided to do a Dukes of Halloween. Ross of course starring as "Ross"coe P. Coltrane the sheriff, I his faithful beagle Flash, and Brian Luke Duke.
In other posts I have been meaning to get out earlier, a granola recipe. I have been in search of something that would render something akin to the delicious crunchy snack we spend way too much of our money on these days. We were grateful to receive several suggestions and after narrowing the field, only by number of ingredients (I am pretty lost past five), we found this little treasure and thought we should share. (Thanks to Sarah's Sister-in-law for this gem)
In a saucepan combine:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
0.5 cup canola oil
You can also add vanilla, cinnamon, salt, or nutmeg to taste.
Bring to a boil making sure the sugar completely dissolves.
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Add to saucepan
1 small container of rolled oats (non-instant oatmeal)
Then any nuts or seeds you and your family enjoy. We chose peanuts, almonds and sunflower seeds.
Coat oats and nuts completely.
Spread saucepan mixture evenly across a large cookie sheet.

Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours. Turning every 45 minutes to an hour to keep the granola drying evenly.
After granola dries and cools pour into a storage size zip bag. At this point you can add raisins, dried cranberries, coconut etc.
Enjoy!
Also a Froggy update: Little Lenox was freed from all medical apparatus a few days ago and was able to drink from a bottle for the first time in his little two week old life. However he was after a heartbreaking decision he was reattached to a feeding tube yesterday due to the exertion it required his little body to eat. His parents are so grateful for the thoughts, prayers and pictures you have sent. The opportunity has not passed, if you would like to send a picture of yourself in green I am more than happy to pass it on to the Gregory family. They are certainly feeling the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father through you, so thank you!
